Who is itswavo?

Michael Espaillat, known professionally as itswavo, or simply Wavo, is a Dominican-American music producer from Broward County, South Florida. Wavo’s journey is one of perseverance and self-discovery, shaped by personal challenges and a strong drive to create.

A Passion for Music and Self-Expression

Growing up, Wavo faced significant hardships, including the death of his father at age 12 and a personal struggle with his sexual orientation. Feeling like an outsider, he found solace and purpose in creativity. He became a self-taught producer, dedicating countless hours to learning music theory on his own. He was inspired by artists like Travis Scott, Cardi B, and Young Thug, who helped him find his voice and feel more comfortable with his identity as an artist.

Wavo pours his creative energy and resources into his music, using it as a way to share his experiences. His lyrics focus on motivating others, encouraging them to follow their passions, turn their ideas into a business, and never give up. As he often says, “Believe in yourself, the world is yours.”

MixItDown and Building a Community

In his twenties, Wavo moved to the Midwest and started an online mixing service called MixItDown. This service was born out of his own experiences, aiming to make professional mixing and mastering more accessible for independent artists. With nearly a decade of experience, Wavo has made music an integral part of his identity. He uses his platform to help other artists, understanding the feeling of a lack of support. He believes that success comes from within and that anyone can achieve their goals with a solid plan, regardless of a college degree.

Wavo is a lifelong learner who embraces new challenges, constantly building his skills by handling multiple projects. He sees MixItDown as a stepping stone for his own music career and a valuable resource for other artists, offering the tools he wished he had when he was starting out.

Family and Future

Wavo’s music has also helped him connect with his family. He has collaborated with local artists in South Florida and even engineered albums for his mother, producer “Mz. Melz Bangerz,” and his stepfather, rapper “B-Dope.” Through his music, he found a unique way to bond with the people closest to him.

Today, Wavo is married and lives a quiet life. He continues to use his music and his business to inspire others and prove that with dedication and self-belief, anything is possible.
